About Emily Margevich

Emily Margevich is “a star in the making” (Bachtrack/ W Ng). Grateful to be starting her career with a bang, this “luminous soprano” (Wall Street Journal) performs with “vulnerability and intelligence… and has a voice of liquid beauty” (Opera Magazine) that is “big and luxurious, with a cascading quality, like a bolt of silk dropped from a balcony (Parterre).

Storytelling is of utmost importance to Emily, and she is continually recognized for “using her voice superbly as a dramatic tool” (Bachtrack/ Kelsall). Growing up with the fortunate combination of incredible support and outstanding teaching from her Mom and Grandma matched with watching TCM, Lucille Ball, Dick Van Dyke, and Judy Garland certainly inspired the foundation of Emily's performing and singing to be “poised and fearless… the work of a prima donna” (Musical America) and centered in love.

Emily has been on stage since the age of two, and professional Musical Theatre credits filled her childhood years. After earning both her Bachelors and Masters in Opera Performance from DePaul University, Margevich moved to Philadelphia to pursue her Artist Diploma at The Academy of Vocal Arts. Active on the competition circuit, Ms. Emily has placed in The Jensen Competition, The Meistersinger Competition, is a multi-year Metropolitan Opera District Winner, and took home First Place in the Sid Kleinmann Competition.

Emily is proud to be the very first singer chosen in the inaugural Company Artist Program at OperaDelaware.

Whether it be Great American Songbook Classics, Opera, or Musical Theatre, Emily loves performing with all her might and will always deliver a performance “as passionate as any Taylor Swift epic” (Theatermania). No matter your favorite musical genre, Ms. Emily hopes you’ll come meet her after a show!

“Charismatic and commanding” (The New York Times).

Bachtrack

“The undoubted highlight of the evening was Emily Margevich, singing Tatyana with an assurance that could easily grace any major stage. Margevich has a creamy lyric soprano with just the right amount of metal for this repertoire. While she was impressively powerful in the final scene, it was the radiant pianissimi of the letter scene that proved her a star in the making.”

Bachtrack

“In a voice secure and attractive from bottom to top, Margevich convinced the listener of the Female Chorus’ mounting anxiety, building in tension to a shattering conclusion.”

Voce di Meche

“[Margevich] showed us all the unbridled passion of an adolescent girl with all of its concomitant terrors... It was a commendable performance.”

Broadway World

“...the strength of the singers, especially the Tatyana of Emily Margevich... made the transition from the girlish character of the first act—with a heartfelt, beautifully sung “Letter Scene” ... expressing her love for Onegin ... she’s fully in command and there isn’t a false note.
